Allegheny County PA Personal Injury Lawyers

The county seat of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh metropolitan area of Pennsylvania is home to approximately 1.5 million citizens and its name originates with the Lenape Indians. Allegheny County was originally settled by the French in 1749 due to the fact that most of the towns lay along rivers allowing for development of commerce. A conflict arose between the French and British who desired to control the rivers of commerce. The British sent George Washington to try to force the French out. The plan failed and the French fortified the area with the construction of Fort Duquesne. Originally Allegheny County was claimed by both Virginia and Pennsylvania. The boundaries of the area were confused by multiple governments and confused deeds. Allegheny County was officially created on September 24, 1788. Throughout the 19th century, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh became the center of steel production in the nation and was known as the steel capitol of the world. Allegheny County has 130 municipalities each with its own governmental setup with more municipalities than any other county in Pennsylvania. Recently one of Allegheny County=s leaders, Dan Onorato, ran for Governor of Pennsylvania and lost out to Patrick Toomey.

Pittsburgh is also known as the AThree Rivers City@ due to the fact that the Allegheny River and Monongahela River converge to form the Ohio River in downtown Pittsburgh. The water from these rivers flow into the Gulf of Mexico via the Mississippi River. The Allegheny County area consists of 745 square miles and is adjacent to Butler County, Westmoreland County, Armstrong County, Washington County, and Beaver County. Pittsburgh is home to the largest inland shipping port in the United States through its easy access to shipping and large waterways. Pittsburgh is home to many hospital, universities, and industrial centers and seems to have increasingly become home to many leading players in the financial services, banking, and insurance industries, as well as being home to Heinz Food Corporation. It seems that many of the communities have gone through annexation, subdivision, or changes through the years. There are approximately 15 colleges and universities in Pittsburgh and 19 community, junior, and technical colleges. Allegheny County has over 9,000 lawyers. Pittsburgh is known for its excellent restaurants, sports teams, and symphony.

Client Reviews

5 We don't have the words to show the full extent of our gratitude for Jeffrey Reiff.

Whether it was fate or luck that let our paths cross, Mr. Reiff saved us. With the relief that we were originally promised by another attorney, we literally thought that our lives were over. Thankfully Mr. Reiff took over our case, as without him we don't know where we would be right now...
