Toyota Expands Its Recall To Another 2.3 Million Cars
Following an ABC investigative piece regarding sudden acceleration of Toyota cars, the world's largest automaker Toyota has recalled 2.3 million cars due to a gas sudden, unexpected, random acceleration problem. Recently many consumers of Toyota have noted that the cars would accelerate without explanation. Just recently Toyota had made a wide recall after the same issue arose and claimed that the problem had been solved with the recall. However, they have now concluded that what was originally thought to be a floor mat issue is not a floor mat issue.
The January 2010 recall includes the 2009/2010 Rav 4, 2009/2010 Corolla, 2009/2010 Matrix, 2005 to 2010 Avalon, the 2007 to 2010 Camry, 2010 Highlander, 2007 to 2010 Tundra, 2008 to 2010 Sequoia. Toyota noted that the recall does not include the Prius or any of the Lexus or Scion brands which use a pedal system from a different manufacturer. Toyota notes that the remedy and timing of the fixes are not apparent yet and Toyota has not indicated how many accidents lead to this particular recall.
